We recently received a thank you phone call from Monica, a paralegal with the Southern Poverty Law Center at the Stewart Immigration Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia, who said: “Thanks to LOTM for your support of our work at Stewart, to provide basic legal services to people locked in a maximum security prison who are waiting for a hearing on their request to seek political asylum in the U.S. We couldn’t do our work without the support of folks like you.”
The charitable endowment fund was created in 1994 with a generous gift of $120,000. The purpose of the endowment fund is to provide for mission work beyond the operational budget of our congregation. Grants are provided to 501(c)(3) and other recognized local, national and international charitable organizations. Through the Charitable Endowment Fund, Lord of the Mountains has assisted many organizations, including Summit County Schools Suicide Prevention Program, LOTM Camp Compassion Scholarships, Father Dyer Church's medical mission, Community Dinner, Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp and Lutheran World Relief. Over the 25 years of its existence, over $135,000 in donations have been made.
The six-member board is elected at the annual congregational meeting for staggered three-year terms. If you are a member of LOTM and you would like to volunteer to be on the board, please contact the church administrator at 970-468-6809 or by email.
Submit Your Grant Application
If your organization wishes to apply for a grant, please fill out and submit the Charitable Endowment Fund Application Form, to which you may attach any additional relevant information to support your request, such as additional information sheets, handouts or photos, or a copy of your 501(c) (3) determination letter if desired.
The board determines the quarterly grants based primarily on the need of the requesting organizations. Please submit your application by the end of the next calendar quarter, as we normally meet and review requests 2 weeks after the close of each quarter. If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact the Charitable Endowment Committee Chairman through the church office at 970-468-6809 or by email.
